Usually, that's unintended. And much time can be spent on trying to zero down on the "best." It's essential to remember that something can be best only for a specific purpose. If faced with a difficult decision, it's most productive to dedicate efforts to elaborate on the whole endeavor's goal. A clearer understanding of purpose might yield some new insights that will make choosing trivial. If none such insights arise, both results are equal at the current level of taste and sense. Just pick by gut or by random and move on. Or use all of them, that works too.
